Planet Editing's unique system keeps a record of all client/service provider transactions and communications. If you keep all your communication onsite, Planet Editing is willing to support editors and translators in arbitrating claims; however, we are not responsible for payments and can only arbitrate on fairness and control site membership.
Tax Obligations
Your tax obligations vary greatly from country to country. For example, if you are a non-resident of Taiwan (residency takes 6 months to establish) employers are obliged to deduct 20% withholding tax from any payment. This could affect the competitiveness of your quote.

Daniel has been the English science editor for the Chinese Geoscience Union for 10 years. He has prepared papers for publication in some of the world's most prestigious science journals such as Nature, Earth and Planetary Science Letters, and Geophysical Journal International. He has also taught academic and business writing at Taiwan's leading companies and research institutes including Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, General Electric, and Taiwan Semiconductor.
His areas of specialization include but are not limited to: earth science, economics, finance, corporate documentation and business communications, branding, chemistry, biology, physics, and the social sciences.
Dr. Harry I. Wilson BSc (Syd), MSc (UTS), PhD (UTS)
Managing Editor, Science and Medicine
Harry has been the English scientific editor at the Institute of Molecular Biology, and the Agricultural Biotechnology Research Center of Academia Sinica in Taipei, Taiwan for a number of years.
He specializes in editing, proofreading, and critical analysis of research papers in molecular biology, immunology, neuroscience, plant genomics and metabolomics, and animal models of disease to the standards required for publication in international scientific journals. He has conducted lectures and workshops on scientific article design and writing. His own doctoral thesis was awarded the best doctoral thesis of 2004 at UTS.
James (Sandy) Murray MA (Edin)
Managing Editor, Business and Journalism
Sandy has been senior English editor of the Foreign Desk at Central News Agency for many years. He specializes in writing and preparing newspaper copy for syndication worldwide. He also specializes in corporate news, press releases, and general business documentation such as applications for drug approvals, patents, and annual reports.
He has edited for many prestigious companies and organizations, including ACNielsen, Levi's, Hewlett Packard, SmithKline Beecham, Pfizer, Wyeth, and the ROC Tourism Bureau.
Peter Balfry BSc (Hull)
Managing Editor, Finance and Investment
Peter has over eight years experience as a full-time financial editor at international investment houses, first at Credit Lyonnais Securities, Asia (CLSA), then at Nomura Securities. He specializes in editing the full range of investment research, from economics and strategy to technology and commodities.
A graduate in chemistry, he previously edited scientific papers and was editorial assistant for the quarterly journal Terrestrial, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (TAO).
Richard Martin MA (OU)
Managing Editor, Technical Writing
Richard has more than ten years experience as a technical writer in Taiwan, specializing in writing, editing, proofreading, and rewriting user guides for commercial software. He has written software development kits, website content, marketing material, and in-house training material.
Richard has a graduate degree in Mathematics and, as a former technician, has extensive training and experience in electronic systems operation and maintenance. He understands the need for understandable, no-nonsense, and easy-to-find help that users require.
Tracy Wang MA (Bath) Translation and Interpreting
Manager, Translation and Interpreting
Tracy is a graduate of the United Nations School of Translating and Interpreting, Vienna and Member of Chartered Institute of Linguists, UK. She is a Chinese/English interpreter with 5 years experience in conference interpreting (including conferences at the United Nations), and over 8 years experience in translation.
Tracy has worked as a senior interpreter for corporate executives such as those of Prudential Financial Group, including covering conferences, meetings, press conferences, and public events. She has also provided translation/interpreting services on software applications, translated important corporate documents, including detailed engineering, and software system requirements from Chinese to/from English. She presently lectures on translation and interpreting.
Rijn Collins BA in Linguistics and Germanic Languages
Manager Creative Writing and Literature
Host of Redbubble's Red Writing Room, Rijn is a writer with extensive English teaching experience. Her creative writing has been published in anthologies, online journals, newspapers, zines and performed on radio, and is currently being adapted for the theatre. She runs a regular writers group and has helped judge numerous anthologies.
Constantly spilling ink into her red writing books, she's the perfect person to help with any creative writing challenge or literature based projects.
