Planet Editing’s number one priority is quality control. We believe this is the single greatest concern of all our customers. It, therefore, forms the cornerstone of our business.

We emphasize:

  • Integrity and quality relationships

In addition, we use our own ranking system for editors and translators to help you find the perfect match for your project, and buyer surveys to provide feedback to Planet Editing to guide us in our rankings.

Knowledge, skills, experience, and qualifications

Planet Editing:

  1. Actively recruits skilled editors and translators in all specialty areas, including Phd holders, journal editors, and others with proven track records in assisting writers to get published.
  2. Verifies professional editors have 2 years fulltime experience in their specialty area.
  3. Issues Planet Editing approved status to editors and translators that complete projects on time, and receive consistently high survey results from customers.

Project Management

Planet Editing provides:

  1. Structured guides to offering and quoting for both large and small projects.
  2. Online records of all communications.
  3. Customer surveys.
  4. Integrity criteria.
  5. Arbitration.
  6. Expert appraisal and verification of samples and/or completed documents.
  7. Editing Checklists and tips.

Integrity and Quality Relationships

We understand that integrity and quality relationships are fundamental to ensuring reliable service, long-term mutual interests, and on going quality control and improvements.

Every member of Planet Editing is guided by the site rules and Planet Editing’s Ethics Guide to Professional Behavior.

Editor and Translator Rankings

Planet Editing has three rankings for editors. They are:

  • Planet Editing Approved,
  • Professional, and
  • Casual (Freelance).

Planet Editing does not use a star system.

Rankings are based on the following criteria:

Planet Editing Approved Status

  1. Professional editor status
  2. Buyer surveys
  3. Sample edits or translations

Professional Status

Professionals have two years full-time verifiable experience in their specialty area and/or membership of a recognized editing or translation guild or society.

Casual (Freelance) Status

Casuals have less than two years full-time experience in their specialty area.

Buyer Surveys

Buyer surveys offer feedback to Planet Editing to guide us in our rankings. The survey covers the following areas:

  1. Reliability in meeting deadlines
  2. Service etiquette and ethics
  3. Topic familiarity
  4. Success of project. Editing proficiency.
